Hier staat een deel uitgelegd. Het heeft vooral te maken met hoe ongezond die club is qua inkomsten.
The Spanish top flight confirmed their caps for every club on Thursday with Barcelona seeing a severe reduction.
The Catalan club were restricted to spend €656m in September 2022 with that number reduced to €648m in February of this year.
That figure has now dropped again to €270m.
The spending cap indicates the amount clubs are permitted to spend during a season on players, coaches, youth teams and other outgoings.
With their wage bill being in excess of €400m, Barcelona will now only be able to spend between 50 per cent and 60 per cent of any revenue created or reductions made as per the league’s rules.
The club have had to pull several economic levers to remain above water financially in recent years and, despite severe cost-cutting, still have one of the highest wage bills in world football.
Barcelona have had to sell club TV rights and partially sell assets to try and keep debt under control and were again unable to register new signings such as Ilkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez and Oriol Romeu ahead of the new season.
